There is no separate "Claude Max for startups" discount program as of this writing distinct from those two paths. If that changes, we track it as soon as it is verifiable in the catalog.
Claude for Open Source: the maintainer track
If you maintain open source software, there is a separate program that has nothing to do with fundraising: Claude for Open Source. Qualifying maintainers get six months of Claude Max 20x, a 200 dollar per month plan, at no cost. That is about 1,200 dollars of value, verified on the official page in July 2026.
You qualify if any of these describe you:
- You maintain a widely depended-on library, roughly 500 plus dependent repos, 100 plus dependent packages, or 200,000 plus monthly downloads across npm, PyPI, crates.io, RubyGems and similar
- You are a listed committer on a major project or foundation such as CPython, Rust, Node.js, Apache, CNCF, Kubernetes, the Linux kernel, Django, or Rails
- You have 100 plus merged pull requests into repos you do not own in the last 12 months
- You run a repo with 20 plus unique external contributors
- You maintain critical infrastructure with an OpenSSF criticality score of 0.4 or higher
Anthropic explicitly invites borderline maintainers to apply anyway. What the credits are worth in tokens
Credits only mean something against list prices.
